Unlike mathematician Renato, Professor John assumes that each combination of numbers has the same probability of being drawn. However, he suggests that people need to ascertain which combination of number other people are likely to choose and then go for a completely different combination.

But how can it help us win? Theoretically, it doesn’t—but if our combination of the number is drawn eventually, it’ll help us win bigger. Because we chose the number that other people didn’t choose, there’s a now greater chance that we won’t be required to share the win with other lucky winners!
